- Administer the War Victims Compensation Act
- Provide statutory benefits for War Victims
- Investigate any claim for compensation
- Administer oaths and take evidence on oaths
- Assess the degree of disablement for purposes of compensation
- Compile and store databases for War Victims and their dependents
- Initiating through the Minister, the composition of the medical board for assessing War Victims
- Recommend payment of compensation or refute payment of compensation
- Recommend amendment of War Victims Compensation Act or review of statutory instruments
- Provide counselling and psychosocial support to War Victims
- Prepare and manage budget allocation for War Victims support services
- Develop policies and procedures for War Victims support
- Conduct outreach programmes to inform War Victims about available services
